I've been extremely blessed with wonderful friends throughout my life. I am still in contact with many of those friends, however, I'm sad to say that there are many that I've lost touch with.
So I felt very blessed the other day to run into a long lost friend at Chuck E. Cheese's of all places. We haven't seen each other for at least ten years so it was such sweet, serendipitous event.
She was one of my best friends in junior high and high school. We, along with four other friends, called ourselves "The Harem"--although at this point I can't remember why. We all had some really great times together. I couldn't have asked for better friends to get me through the drama of being a high school freshman.
Marriage and careers and life in general have sent us all in various directions. Eventually we all became moms who are super busy with our own lives--which I guess is how it should be.
But I'll always be grateful for wonderful memories.

Wow - I totally remember those kind of dresses. I had some like that. And the hair...
I can't remember the last time I saw that picture! Wow! Laura
That's one of the reasons I love blogging. It's helped me get in touch with people after years of not keeping touch. It's great that I can reconnect with long lost friends when I'm up feeding the baby in the middle of the night.
why did't any of you tell me how incredibly rediculous my hair looked!!!!! What a nightmare of a hairdoo!!! We were the Harem because we always hung out with Cathy's brother--was it Tom? I'm prety sure that's how it got started--Cathy would probably remember better. Thanks for a great post--hopefully not too many people will see my crazy hair!
That is a sweet story. Connecting is so HAPPY. But really, all I can say is "Dang look at that lace!"
Lots of memories there for sure--and what a blast from the past.
Pardon the snort of laughter: the hair, the lace . . .
Scary thing is that I owned a couple of dresses just like that, and my hair was just as big or bigger.
And you're prettier now. You age well. :)
why didn't i make a comment about the lace? What were we thinking? Every single one of us has lace on our dresses and it is really scary! I got a good laugh out of it!
I remember your dress and how pretty I thought it was! And sadly I'm old enough to realize that it will probably be pretty again! :)
A comment on the photo:
It totally did not occur to me how dated and "lacy" the picture looked when I posted it.
It totally cracks me up that it got such a response!
Aren't you glad we all survived the "age of lace"? What an awesome picture to share! Oh, the good old (big hair) times....
